Home is a holy place. It is the nursery of divinity. From the earliest times, parents have been called the ‘priests and priestesses of the domestic church’, their home. They consecrate the bread and wine of each day’s dark and light of family life.
When Pope Francis was asked to define holiness he immediately spoke about the work of a mother to co-create human-divine life with God, and about the father who works to nourish ‘that domestic church’. And he makes it clear that within that home there are not two levels of love and forgiveness – true human love and forgiveness are utterly divine as well.
